I first worked with Jeff at a meditation retreat. He had greatly helped our teacher after he was injured in a car accident on the way to the retreat so I sought his help for my chronic back pain due to a herniated disc.
Since that time I have had a number of opportunities to work with Jeff individually and in groups. Each time I have come away learning something about myself and the way I move, noticing that small movements alleviate pain or stress more than large movements and exercise.
Group sessions have involved working in couples or small groups of four, moving together, or in answer to one another. This work I find helps me understand the location of my body in space and the space around me in relationship to others. I come away asking myself how I interact with people and how could I interact differently. With this type of work, there never seems to be a right or wrong way but a ‘getting to know my own way’.
Jeff's awareness of movement is fine tuned. I found that he was able to diagnose a particular problem and make small adjustments to the way my body habitually moves to help get it back on track. He is conscientious and thoughtful, tailoring sessions to meet the needs of his students. He is excellent at what he does, he pays attention to micro details in the way his students move, and he brings a sense of presence to the encounter that is restful.
